SERVING OUR COUNTRY
Jeff joined the US Navy after high school graduation and fondly recalls "so many great stories" from that time. It came as no surprise that he became an HT Hull Technician; his aptitude testing resulted in recommending their A-School with curriculum in fire-fighting, sheet metal layout and fabrication, brazing, silver soldering and welding. His diligence and passion were recognized and he was asked to return after graduating as one of their first student instructors, serving for 18 months. Teaching became another passion for him, one he has utilized throughout his lifetime. |
Assigned to the (UDT) Underwater Demolition Team 22 in Little Creek, Virginia next, he worked in the SOP on the Mark 8 and Mark 9 Seal Delivery Vehicles (SDV - Minisub) body panels and maintenance.
His final nine months were spent with the UDT Team 22 who were guests on board the USS Trenton (LPS-14) amphibious transport ship executing training maneuvers in the Mediterranean Sea. Serving two more years in the Inactive Reserves, he then received an Honorable Discharge.
'Join the Navy and see the world' was certainly true and a very enjoyable life experience for me. "
